For the 2016 model year the venerable ML SUV will undergo a mid-cycle refresh. It will have the same body first introduced for the 2012 model year but will feature tweaked front and rear ends. The exterior changes will be subtle enough that most people will hardly notice.
The most noticeable change will be in the interior front and centre on the dash where a larger stand-up navigation/display screen will appear. This upright fixed screen design which made it’s first appearance in our 2013 B250 has experienced a love/hate relationship with our customers but appears to be a mainstay in the line-up moving forward. In addition to the new screen the centre console will receive a touch pad adopted from the 2015 C-class sedans.
There will be 5 models available – GLE350d (diesel), GLE400, GLE450 AMG, GLE550 and GLE63 S AMG. All will feature 4Matic all-wheel drive. The GLE350d Bluetec will debut the new 9-speed G-Tronic transmission.
In addition to all of the standard safety systems on the outgoing ML, the new GLE will add CROSSWIND ASSIST and MAGIC VISION CONTROL.
All new is the DYNAMIC SELECT switch with five different transmission modes – Comfort, Sport, Slippery, Individual and Off-Road.
The GLE’s should be arriving at our dealership late summer to early fall.
